Australia’s first true unlimited ADSL 2+ plan
Finally, AAPT an ISP in Australia is offering an ADSL2+ plan with unlimited download, 24X7 and no throttling. They also throw in $50 worth of music download. But (there is always a but) please read the fine print if you want to sign up with them. In short, it’s a 24 month contract and they may limit, suspend or terminate your service if your excessive downloads affect their network resources. To read more, check out the terms and conditions.
All these years we Aussies have been lagging behind the US and Asia countries in internet download allowance.
“What! You can only download 10 Gigs a month but I download that much in a day.” Comment like this is normal on the forums around the world.
Back then, I always thought how nice it would be if I could get one of this plan. I can download whatever I want without logging on to my ISP account to check my download balance. I also don’t have to tell the kids to watch what they’re downloading. Peace of mind not to have to worry about megabytes-count.
I have switched to another ISP recently that offers 50 Gigs of downloads during peak hours(8am to 2am) and 50 Gigs during off peak (2am to 8am) a month. My household has never gone past this download limit. Who can download more than 100 Gigs of “free software”, loyalty-free songs and many hours of video streaming a month? Maybe some hard-core downloaders can but majority of us will never download that much.
Saying that, if I have the unlimited plan, it’s always good to know I won’t be throttled to 64K before month-end when the kids have been watching too many youtube videos or they have been downloading too many “games demos”.
To be competitive, other ISPs will follow to offer the same unlimited plan. Limited plans will become cheaper in the near future. This is good news for Aussie consumers. Thumbs up!

Yeah right, lets see how long this lasts. You may be running a household service satisfying a handful of people but there’ll be people out there abusing the system by running bandwidth intensive servers who will eventually kill the service.

Everyone’s situation is different. That’s why we have different plans I guess. For the majority, unlimited plan is desireable but not needed.

We also offer Unlimited ADSL2+ plans. Note, by unlimited it means there are peak and off-peak speed caps, but traffic is unlimited – the fine print that people are not aware about!
