It is the Easter long weekend and also the first weekend of the Victorian term 1 school holidays.  Where can I go and where can the kids have a great weekend?

I borrowed a few camping and 4wd books from friends to get some ideas.  The kids are not that fond of me driving too long and definitely not on steep and rugged 4wd tracks.  When we come to a steep hill, Justin always shake and ask if we can take alternate route.  There is a reason he does that, maybe next time I can explain on another blog. ;-)

1 place caught my eyes and it is the Great Otway National Park.  It is about 2 hours drive from Melbourne and the drive was quick and easy.

On Friday, I packed up my trusty Land Rover Discovery 2 and drove towards the park.  First we stopped at the Stevenson’s Falls campground.  I wasn’t really surprised that the site was chockers, full!  I managed to find a small spot to pitch our little tent and gazebo.  The kids and I then went to the falls.  The walk and views were beautiful.

The next day we went to the Otway Fly Tree top Walk.  We were walking among trees, about 25 metres above ground.  What an experience and strange feeling!

Next stop the Twelve Apostles on the Great Ocean Road.  We stopped to have lunch and also had an Easter egg hunt.  The boys also had a great time on the beach.

We did not stay another night at the campground as it was very noisy and we had a hard time sleeping.  There were too many drunks having a good time, doing silly things and talking too loudly. :-(

Overall, it was a memorable weekend and kids were extremely happy.  I cannot ask for anything more. :-)
