Green energy costs more
Green energy is not electricity generated by plants or the chlorophyll in them. At least not now. ![]()
Its actually renewable energy generated by wind farms or solar panels, just to name a few I know.
In Australia, we have the option to buy this sort of energy or electricity from our providers. However it costs at least 20% more compared to the normal electricity generated by coal-powered stations. To complicate things, service providers also offer different level of green electricity you wish to grab from the grid. The more green you want, the more you will have to pay.
Australians are very conscious about the environment and global warming. However how many of us actually are willing to pay more for greener energy? For me, I want to be green and do my part to save the environment but I don’t want to pay anymore than I have to. Is it too much to ask for?
