Internet dropouts
We are connected to the internet via ADSL2+. Lately the connection has been dropping out frequently and intermittently. How frustrating!

This issue started happening 3 weeks ago. When it first started, the modem would lose connections frequently, every few minutes at really bad times. VOIP and internet connections were up and down like a yoyo.
Troubleshooting time.
- Isolation test. Disconnected all devices that are connected to the phone line except the modem. I only have a phone connected at the kitchen, so this is not troublesome. No good.
- Swapped to a different spare modem I have, no good.
- Tried different phone cable to the modem, no good.
There are 2 different lines with different phone numbers going to the house. I can hear static noises clearly and loudly when I picked up both the phones The line from the exchange to my house must be buggered or the wiring in the house could be damaged. Blardy possums must be chewing on the lines. ![]()
I was hoping more of the former so I don’t have to crawl under the house.
I called my ISP and Telstra 3 weeks ago. ISP was helpful but couldn’t find anything wrong. Telstra was also quick to response, what a surprise! In the same day, a technician advised there was an issue with the line outside the premise and the line will be replaced within 10 working days.
Strangely, the internet connection since then was staying up until today! He must have done something then but I am not sure what it was.
The line must have been replaced by now. Why is the ADSL connection still dropping out intermittently? There are still static noises on both lines. The aliens must be trying to tell me something?
That’s it. In protest to this internet connection issue, I am barring myself from the internet today. ![]()
I think it’s time to get out. The sun is finally out after a few days of freak storm.
